What is the Cube Reader?

The Cube Reader is a compact photometer designed for those who run a high volume of tests and require accurate and reliable quantitative results. It is user-friendly and ensures consistency across multiple test applications, making it ideal for laboratory and point-of-care settings at the stall.

This device is equipped with two specific adapters: one for canine test cassettes and another for equine/camelid cassettes. These adapters adjust the cassettes to sit precisely under the Cube Reader’s photometer, ensuring consistent results every time.

How It Works: After positioning the test cassette in the correct adapter, place the cube reader on top. Power on the device. Use the RFID card to get a number result. Each quantitative test kit comes with a lot-specific RFID card that calibrates the Cube Reader and informs it which test is being run. If you’ve been using the Cube Reader, you’ll appreciate the enhancements in the Cube Reader Plus. The most significant upgrade is the built-in rechargeable Li-battery, which eliminates the need for frequent CR2032 battery replacements, providing longer and more reliable usage. Additionally, a dual LED status indicator (ON & battery charge) was added and the charge port upgraded to a universal USB-C make this a more well-rounded analyzer instrument.

We recommend the Cube Reader Plus for those customers running a large number of tests per season who need the assurance and reliability of an easily rechargeable instrument. For customers only running a few tests per season, the original cube reader with 3 batteries (and available power cord) is a less expensive option while still obtaining accurate numeric results.

The Two Cube Reader Adapters Explained

The Cube Reader uses two adapter types to ensure precise alignment of lateral flow test cassettes with the reader's photometer, guaranteeing consistent and reliable results. The canine adapter is specifically required for running K9 Quick P4 tests, as these cassettes are slightly longer than those used for equine/camelid tests. Both adapters are fully compatible with either the Cube Reader or Cube Reader Plus models. Each adapter features a notch in the lower right corner that ensures the Cube Reader will only be seated in the correct orientation.
