IgG levels of all foals should be routinely measured when they are about 12 to 24 hours old.

Foals are born with no circulating antibodies (IgG) and must receive adequate antibodies from the mare's colostrum. Up to 25% of newborn foals have low IgG levels, placing them at high risk for infection, serious illness, or death.

Low IgG may result from premature lactation, poor suckling, malabsorption, or lowquality colostrum. The Immuno-Chek™ Foal IgG is a horse-side measurement test that offers information about  foal’s IgG level.

Rapid identification of low IgG is critical for initiating early treatment in foals with insufficient circulating antibodies.

SAA-Chek™ is a rapid, lateral flow test. It delivers visual results from a small whole blood, serum or plasma sample in as little as 10 minutes- no laboratory required. Ideal for use at the barn, on the track, or in the field.

Serum Amyloid A (SAA) is an acute phase protein and one of the most sensitive biomarkers of inflammation in horses. During infection, injury, or surgical stress, SAA levels can rise dramatically - up to, 1,000 fold- within 24-48 hours. Unlike other markers, SAA returns to baseline rapidly once the condition resolves, making it an ideal monitor for tracking treatment response and recovery.
